Dive into aquatic adventures with our Rivers and Oceans program at Access Northwest. Designed for children with special needs, this program offers unique opportunities to experience the beauty and excitement of water-based activities. From gentle river floats to accessible beach outings, we provide inclusive experiences that cater to a range of abilities. Join us as we make the wonders of rivers and oceans accessible to all, creating unforgettable memories along the way.

Access Beaches

Inspired by the success in Lincoln City, Access Northwest is dedicated to enhancing beach accessibility across Oregon. In 2022, Lincoln City purchased 450 feet of ocean blue mobility mats, now installed at 2 points, with expansion to 2 more this year. These ADA-compliant, non-slip mats create temporary pathways, increasing beach access. Made from 100% recycled polyester, they are both eco-friendly and durable, allowing more individuals to enjoy Oregon’s beautiful coastlines.

Go Boating

Tyler Turner’s life changed dramatically in June 2008 when a car pulled out in front of him while he was riding his motorcycle. Despite being paralyzed, Tyler’s determination and resilience shine through. Once a deckhand on the Tacklebuster, he is now a Coast Guard certified captain, a testament to his strength and perseverance. Tyler is an inspiration for Access Northwest, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunity for children to meet him and experience the joy of whale watching (and catching fish) together.

Catch Fish (&Fun)

At Access Northwest, we believe in the transformative power of nature, and our fishing programs for children exemplify this belief. We provide opportunities for kids to experience the thrill of fishing on streams, rivers, and lakes, surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. These outings not only teach valuable fishing skills but also foster a deep connection with the outdoors. Our goal is to create lasting memories and inspire a lifelong love of nature in every child we serve.
